Current Research
Co-ordinator of the Randomised Nitric Oxide Tocolysis Trial (RNOTT) and Project Officer of the Targeted Institutional Links (TIL) Program. The study was a randomised multi-centre controlled trial of transdermal nitroglycerine versus conventional treatment (intravenous salbutamol) for preterm labour including follow-up of the infants to 18 months. The main objective of the TIL Program was to link major obstetric centres in South East Asia with The Mothers and Babies Research Centre to establish a South East Asian Australasian Preterm Labour Study Group which made this multi-centre trial possible. The role of co-ordinator included establishing the database for the trial, data acquisition and analysis and assay of corticotrophin releasing hormone. As Project Officer on the TIL Program I was responsible for liaison between the different institutions, maintaining a central computerised database of pregnancies and their outcomes and organising annual conferences between the centres involved. The trial has been completed and the data published.

My PhD research is on estrogen and progesterone actions in human parturition with the main focus on progesterone withdrawal, under the supervision of Professor Roger Smith and Dr Sam Mesiano (Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland).
